Features

MONOCRYL™ Plus Antibacterial Suture is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable monofilament designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is particularly useful in situations where an absorbable suture is indicated. The suture is enhanced with Triclosan, a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, providing effectiveness against pathogens commonly associated with surgical site infections.

Material Composition

• Poliglecaprone 25: A copolymer of glycolide and ε-caprolactone.
• Triclosan: Up to 2360 μg/m, offering antibacterial properties.

Color Options

• Undyed (Clear)
• Dyed (Violet)

Absorption Characteristics

The suture is absorbed by hydrolysis with the following retention characteristics:

• Dyed Variant:
• Retains approximately 60% tensile strength at 7 days.
• Retains 30% at 14 days.

• Loses all tensile strength by 28 days.

• Undyed Variant:

• Retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 7 days.
• Retains 20% at 14 days.
• Loses all tensile strength by 21 days.

Complete absorption occurs between 91 to 119 days.

Availability

The suture is available in various gauge sizes and lengths. It can be supplied non-needled or attached to stainless steel needles, either permanently or with CONTROL RELEASE™ technology.

Indications and Contraindications

Indications: Suitable for general soft tissue approximation and ligation where absorbable suture material is appropriate.

Contraindications:

• Not recommended for extended tissue approximation under stress.
• Not suitable for closure of fascial tissue.
• Not for use in patients with known allergies to Triclosan.

Sterilization and Storage

• Sterilization: Ethylene oxide gas.
• Storage: Store at or below 25°C. Do not resterilize or reuse.
