Product Characteristics

PRONTOSAN® products are sterile, colourless, and odourless, making them easy to apply without staining. They are designed for long-term use, with solutions and gels remaining effective for up to 8 weeks after opening when used by a single patient. Importantly, these products do not inhibit granulation tissue formation or wound healing and show no evidence of systemic absorption or toxicity.

Indications

PRONTOSAN® is suitable for a variety of wounds, including:

• Surgical and traumatic wounds
• Venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and pressure ulcers
• First and second-degree burns (with Gel X also suitable for third-degree burns)

Usage Instructions

• Wound Irrigation Solution: Rinse or soak the wound and peri-wound skin, applying directly or with a compress. It should not be rinsed off and is recommended for use with each dressing change.
• Wound Gel/Gel X: Apply a 3–5 mm layer to the wound bed or dressing, covering with a suitable secondary dressing.
• Debridement Pad: Use with the solution for soft mechanical debridement.

Safety Precautions

PRONTOSAN® should be used externally only and stored at room temperature. It is crucial to check for allergies before use and to avoid combining it with other wound cleansers or ointments, except normal saline. Use in infants, pregnant, or lactating women should be under medical supervision.
