Description

Mesalt® is an advanced wound care solution designed by Molnlycke to enhance the healing process of wounds with moderate to heavy exudate. This sterile, single-use dressing is crafted from a nonwoven viscose/polyester material, uniquely impregnated with crystalline sodium chloride. Its primary function is to effectively cleanse wounds by absorbing exudate, bacteria, and necrotic material, thereby fostering a conducive environment for natural healing.

Application Versatility

Mesalt® is highly conformable and can be easily cut to size, making it suitable for various wound types, including deep cavity wounds. The dressing is applied dry, directly to the wound, eliminating the need for pre-moistening, and is intended to be used with an appropriate secondary dressing.

Indications

Ideal for:

• Wounds with moderate to heavy exudate
• Infected wounds (under clinical management)
• Wounds with slough, fibrin, or moist necrosis
• Deep cavity wounds such as pressure sores or surgical wounds

Precautions

Mesalt® should not be used on dry wounds, wounds with minimal exudate, or granulating wounds. It is also not recommended for use on individuals with known sensitivities to its components, or in direct contact with exposed bone or tendon. Care should be taken to avoid overlapping onto periwound skin, and usage should be discontinued as the wound begins to granulate or epithelize.

Usage Instructions

• Application: Cleanse the wound as per clinical protocol, apply Mesalt® dry, and cover with a suitable secondary dressing.
• Frequency: Change the dressing at least once daily, or more frequently based on exudate levels, with effectiveness lasting up to 24 hours.
• Duration: Intended for short-term use, typically up to 30 days.

Available Sizes

• Pads: Various sizes including 5 × 5 cm, 7.5 × 7.5 cm, and 10 × 10 cm.
• Ribbons: Sizes such as 2 × 100 cm, providing flexibility for different wound needs.
