Description
The GRIPPER PLUS SAFE HUBER NEEDLE is a specialized medical device designed for secure and efficient vascular access to implanted ports. It is particularly suited for the administration and withdrawal of fluids such as chemotherapy, antibiotics, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN). This device is ideal for long-term or repeated infusions, commonly used in hospital settings.
Key Features
-
Integrated Safety Mechanism: The needle features a safety arm that activates upon removal, providing both audible and visual confirmation to prevent accidental needlestick injuries. This "hands behind the needle" technique enhances user safety and ensures secure disposal in a sharps container.
-
Non-Coring Needle Design: Engineered to minimize port septum damage, the needle includes a thick, cushioned platform for patient comfort and a removable contoured grip for precise insertion. Its special tip design prevents rubber fragment contamination.
-
Extension Set Options: The device includes a 20 cm extension set made from non-DEHP plasticized tubing, available with or without a Y-site. Configurations include luer-activated, needle-free Y-site, or a removable split septum injection cap. Color-coded clamps aid in easy identification, with priming volumes of 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, or 0.8 mL.
Configurations & Sizes
Available in gauges 19G, 20G, and 22G, and lengths of 5/8 in, 3/4 in, 1 in, and 1¼ in. The needle is offered in non-Y site, Y-site, and luer-activated needleless Y-site versions.
Power Injection Version
The GRIPPER PLUS POWER P.A.C. version supports power injection up to 5 mL/sec at 300 psi, identifiable by blue tubing and printed clamps. It is compatible with PORT-A-CATH® POWER P.A.C. systems.
Material & Compatibility
The device is latex-free, with non-DEHP plasticized tubing, and compatible with Taxol and lipid-based medications. It is sterile, single-use, and disposable, sterilized with ethylene oxide.
Compliance & Certification
The needle meets CE, FDA, and ISO13485 standards, with a positive evaluation for Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT®). It complies with NIOSH/CDC recommended safety criteria.
Instructions for Use
To ensure safe and proper use, healthcare professionals should follow the provided Instructions for Use. The needle is supplied in boxes of 12 units, primarily intended for adult patients and typically used by nurses in hospital environments.
