Description

The BILICOCOON BAG PAD is an integral component of the BiliCocoon™ Phototherapy System, specifically designed to address neonatal jaundice in infants up to 3 months old and weighing less than 10 kg. This innovative device provides comprehensive 360° blue light exposure, effectively reducing bilirubin levels by delivering intensive phototherapy to both the front and back of the infant.

Key Features

  • Flexible Light-Emitting Pad: The pad is lightweight and features two light-emitting surfaces, each measuring approximately 20 cm by 30 cm. It connects to a light box via a secure optical fiber cable, ensuring safe and effective light delivery.
  • Blue LED Light Source: Emitting at a peak wavelength between 455 and 465 nm, the pad offers precise spectral irradiance for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Disposable Cover: Each pad is used with a single-use, non-woven cover to ensure hygiene and comfort, making direct contact only with the cover.

Safety and Usability

Designed for use in both hospital and home settings, the BILICOCOON BAG PAD is suitable for use in incubators, cradles, or while held by a caregiver. It includes essential safety features such as alarms for optical connection issues, LED overheating, and failure, along with water resistance (IPX3) for added protection.

  • Transport and Handling: The pad is crafted to allow safe transport of the infant during therapy, facilitating cuddling and breastfeeding without interrupting treatment.
  • Eye Protection: Essential for the infant during use, and caregivers are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the blue light.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The pad requires thorough cleaning and disinfection before and after each use. It should be wiped with water and suitable cleaning agents, ensuring no exposure to sunlight or harsh cleaning methods. Maintenance tasks, such as LED replacement and repairs, are to be conducted by authorized personnel only.

Contraindications and Precautions

The system is not recommended for infants with certain conditions such as congenital porphyria or those on photosensitizing medications. Monitoring of bilirubin levels, body temperature, and fluid balance is crucial during treatment.

Compliance and Standards

The BILICOCOON BAG PAD complies with relevant medical device standards, including CE marking and various ISO/IEC standards, ensuring high levels of safety and efficacy. It has been on the market since 2016, providing trusted care for neonatal jaundice management.

Environmental Considerations

The device is intended for indoor use, with specific storage conditions to prevent damage. It should be stored flat, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to maintain its integrity and performance.
