Designed as a cohesive elastic retention bandage, it serves multiple purposes including securing dressings, providing support and compression, and offering protective padding for wounds or surgical sites.
Key Features
-
Cohesive Design: This bandage adheres to itself without sticking to skin, hair, or clothing, eliminating the need for additional clips or adhesives. Its non-slip nature ensures it stays in place, even in high-movement areas.
-
Comfort and Breathability: The air-permeable construction allows for airflow, enhancing comfort and reducing bulk compared to standard crepe bandages. This makes it suitable for use on fragile or sensitive skin.
-
Customizable Length: Easily cut to the desired length, it offers versatility and cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for various applications.
Material and Construction
Crafted from a woven cotton, polyester, and polyamide substrate, the bandage is lightweight yet durable. It may contain a latex or latex-free coating, with options available to suit those with latex sensitivities. The standard color is white, with black available in certain sizes.
Size Options
Available in widths of 2.5 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm, and 10 cm, and lengths of 2 meters (unstretched, 4 meters stretched) and 10 meters (unstretched, 20 meters stretched). It comes in roll formats of 4m and 20m, packaged as single rolls or in boxes of two for the 2.5 cm size.
Application
Ideal for securing dressings on fingers, toes, limbs, and head, as well as retaining medical devices in challenging anatomical areas. Only two layers are typically needed for effective retention. It should not be reused, as its self-adhering properties diminish after initial use.
Maintenance and Safety
Change the dressing every day or two, especially if the wound is moist or dirty, to prevent infection. Store in a cool, dry place away from strong oxidising agents. Though classified as a combustible solid, it poses no significant hazard and can be disposed of according to local regulations.
Precautions
Individuals with latex allergies should ensure they use the latex-free variant. The bandage is not classified as dangerous or hazardous, requiring no special transport or handling precautions.
This product offers a reliable and gentle solution for those needing secure, adhesive-free fixation, making it a valuable addition to any medical setting.
